Radical Excels in Italian Hill Climb Championship
24th April 2009
The hugely popular Italian Hill Climb Championship kicked off last weekend in the province of Trapani in Sicily.
Autosport Sorrento Racing had a great debut with its four Radical team, and showed the true potential of the Radical marque in its first year in the Italian hill climb scene.
Mirco Savoldi from Brescia drove his Radical PR6 to an amazing third overall in the qualification run beaten only by two Osella formula cars with twice the horse power.
On his subsequent runs Mirco secured first in the 1600cc class but only fifth overall because he chose to stay on slicks in the unusually damp conditions.
Cataldo Esposito at the wheel of his SR4 took the well deserved lead in the 1300cc class, while the two novices Giovanni Carotenuto in a Radical SR4 and Domenic De Franco in a Radical SR3 were extremely pleased with the performance and reliability of their cars.
The next round of the championship is on the 26th April in the province of Caltanisetta in Sicily
